I’m a fan of Daft Punk. I was recently sent this video of Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger on YouTube. Wait until the lyrics kick in!

Thoughts on MarsEdit 2

MarsEdit 2

In my previous post, Checking out MarsEdit 2, I did a test post using MarsEdit 2.

I have to say that I like using a desktop editor for doing my posts. The only downside to this is that the Media Manager is lacking a few features.

Plus

  • The custom template option is great for seeing what your post will really look like
  • In-line spell checking as-you-type
  • You can do advanced text editing (it’s in the “Markup” drop menu)

Minus

  • No WYSIWYG advanced text editing (you have to write the html for formatting text) Correction, see 3rd entry under “Plus”
  • No ability to edit/add title, caption, or description to an image that you upload
  • You cannot remove or edit an image/file in the Media Manager

This seems like a great app for doing quick posts. It seems to need a bit more polish for more advanced editing if it’s going to take me away from using the online editor that comes with WordPress.

Checking out MarsEdit 2

MarsEdit 2

Me being the lazy person that I am, I’m always looking for ways to do things better or faster. I was checking out a new desktop RSS reader (NetNewsWire) and came across a default feed from Red Sweater Blog. Turns out they sell a few Mac programs. I decided to check out MarsEdit 2. This is my first test post with this new program. If I like it then I think it’ll be worth dropping $29.95 for a copy.

Being a native San Antonian, I’m happy to hear that the AT&T stores in my home town will be one of the 4 cities to carry Microsoft’s Surface Table. Luckily I live in San Francisco which happens to be on the list along with NYC and Atlanta.

Wordpress update 2.5

I wanted to apologize for any down time for the site. I just finished doing a Wordpress update to the latest release 2.5.

Right now I’m running into some update problems with my custom styles. Hopefully things will be sorted out shortly.
Looks like everything is back up and running!

Double the killer delete select all

The other day I blogged about this guy doing Perl scripting using Microsofts Vista Speech Recognition. You can check that one out here: Why programmers need their hands.

Well turns out that someone from Microsoft was giving a demonstration of Windows Vista speech recognition. Here is the video:

Gmail IMAP support!

Gmail IMAP support is finally here. Late last night Google announced that they were offering free IMAP support for Gmail. I’m so glad for this since I manage all of my domains through Google Apps. It’s a slow rollout over the next few days and unfortunately it hasn’t made it to my accounts yet. Here are a few links from Gmail to get you going:

October 25, 2007, 4:22 PM : I now have IMAP support for my psyrendust.com domain! I just got it working on my iPhone and through Apple Mail.

Here is an official video on how to setup Gmail IMAP support for your iPhone:
